Christmas Spider

The Christmas Spider (very short version)

An old Gaelic folk tale relates the story of the busy housewife who scrubbed and polished her home for the arrival of the Christ child.

On Christmas Eve all was in readiness and the happy family was asleep. The spiders came out from their hiding places and found nowhere to spin their webs, so they climbed into the Christmas tree and festooned it with a silvery web.

To this day, a spider on your Christmas tree means you are truly ready for Christmas.

One of my grandmother's friends gave me this story and taught me a craft to go with it. She taught me how to make a Christmas spider! (out of beads and thin wire)

Above, the pattern for the spider. (Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!)

Knitting Loom

My Aunt Leanne (paintergirl) gave me a neat Knitting Loom for Christmas. It is really neat! (It's super easy and I feel like I am cheating when I use it.)

Above, is a small, green and bright orange purse I produced from it.

Christmas Chocolates

Tonight I made chocolate Christmas candies...yum! Peanut butter mashed between two crackers and dipped in melted chocolate! YUM YUM YUM! I don't like TOO much peanut butter so mom made me ones without. (Still wonderful) My mom, my brother and I all gathered together and listened to Christmas music while we dipped the crackers (and our fingers) in chocolate.

Christmas is Almost Here...

Wow, it's really hard to believe, Christmas is almost here! It's cold outside, warm by the fire, frost on the ground, decorating, shopping for friends and family, giving, spreading the Christmas spirit, Christmas.

Mom's Christmas catcus is blooming!

My little brother and I outside in the cold. Brrrrr...My poor nutcracker... he falls apart every year. Poor thing can't crack nuts anymore. I still treasure him though.

Finger-Crocheted Scarf

I finger-crocheted a scarf!
HOW TO DO IT: Simple, use your finger instead of a crochet hook. (But, use thick yarn to finger-crochet or have bigger stitches in your scarf.)

blue bird

Here is a poem I wrote today.

The blue bird flies,
Breathing heavy
It stops to rest.

Its golden-red chest
Moves fast;
It slows.

Its wings touch
The cold, soft, air,
The blue bird flies.

Trip to the Science Museum

Today I went to a science museum! It was a lot of fun! Below is me touching a generator, and using its electrical energy it lifts up your hair!
On the left is some neat-looking, electrical, lights that are following my fingers.

Above, I am looking in a crazy mirror that makes me look squat.

Above is a short video of these balls that kept bouncing off of a wall towards me, but they weren't really there. I reached out and tried to touch them but felt nothing. (Strange!)

Below I am in a room of mirrors. (See the millions of me!)

Colored it in!

I colored in my "Queen of the Craftys" drawing! How do you like it?
